Thyme Cottage Flexible Respite Program

Thyme Cottage Residential Respite Service provides overnight, planned and emergency accommodation in a home-like setting. The Cottage was set up and is managed by Aspire with funding from the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA). Thyme Cottage has 5 bedrooms and can sleep up to 9 people.

Who can use the Cottage?

The Cottage is designed to provide respite for carers of adults with a serious mental illness and/or an intellectual disability (ID); this includes Autism Spectrum Disorders. The program provides accommodation for either carers or people recieving care. Unfortunately the house is not suitable for people with significant mobility issues.

How long can you stay?

Stays range from 1 night to a maximum of 7 nights.

How much does it cost?

There may be various sources of funding available to support access to Thyme Cottage Respite Service. A contribution to costs is usually required. Contact the Thyme Cottage Co-ordinator for information.

What do I need to bring?

You need to provide your food, personal items, toiletries, clothing etc.

What is provided at Thyme Cottage?

  • TV
  • DVD
  • Linen & towels
  • Tea, coffee and sugar on arrival
  • Fully equipped kitchen with a microwave and dishwasher
  • Laundry
  • BBQ
  • Wood heater (with wood supplied) 

Where is it?

The Thyme Cottage Co-ordinator is available on Monday's and Tuesday's between 9am-5pm. Enquiries outside of these days will be forwarded to Sage Hill.
