Why do we need programs like Partners in Depression?
• Depression affects over 1 million Australians every year.
• Family and friends provide the majority of day to day care and support to these Australians experiencing depression.
• People who care for and support a person with depression report feeling isolated, having difficulties interacting with the health system and experiencing confusion about how best to support the person they care for.
• They also experience significant psychological distress and are at risk of developing mental illness themselves.
Partners in Depression provides people with the information and tools to better support the person in their life with depression and themselves.
