Aspire has available four trained and accredited Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), two Youth MHFA and one Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander MHFA facilitators who work across the Southwest of Victoria delivering these international and national award winning evidence based mental illness education programs.
The programs teach people to provide help to a person developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.
Since late 2006, these programs have been delivered to more than 500 individuals from over 50 organisations, industries and communities across the Southwest. These have included: health services, CFA, aged care workers, employment agencies, local and State government, emergency services, community house, rural financial councillors, hairdressers, veterinarian, dentist, hotel bottle shop staff and interested individuals.
For more information on the Mental Health First Aid program please contact the Health Promotion and Education Manager at the Warrnambool office between 9-5 Monday to Friday.
