Community Support Service (CSS) Program

The CSS Program is a Home and Community Care (HACC) funded initiative that commenced in July 2000. Based in Warrnambool the CSS Program assists adults, who are socially and physically isolated, reconnect with the community.

The program strives to meet people's individual needs, incorporating high quality social and recreational activities for adults who have multiple or complex mental health needs. Innovative programs are continually being developed to offer new challenges and exciting experiences with the aim of enhancing the lives of the participants and maintaining community access. Many participants have developed new friendships, improved confidence, rediscovered old skills, learnt to laugh again and found new courage to cope.

The CSS Program is continually being evaluated to ensure it is meeting the needs of residents who often have multiple and complex issues including social, emotional, cognitive and physical difficulties.

Additional Funding has been accessed from:

  • BHP Billiton - to provide the residents and others the opportunity to participate in sporting, recreational and social activities that otherwise may not be possible. Through these activities participants are able to engage with the broader community. This funding is for several events over a period of three years.
  • Western District Employment Access Charitable Trust - to provide overnight trips/camps for the participants.
  • We are also grateful for the significant support we receive from local services and clubs.

For more information or enquiries please contact the CSS Program Co-ordinator at the Warrnambool office Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
